Among other things I am a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and fortunate member of a large and loving family without a throw-away in the bunch. Now a writer of quips, essays and short stories, I started serious writing and my first novel at age 70. A chemical engineering graduate of Purdue University in 1949, I am a dreamer who would like to be a poet, a cosmologist, a true environmentalist and a naturalist. I've become a lecturer on several subjects. That's my little buddy, Charlie, with me in the photo. He's an energetic, very friendly Lhasa Apso born in September, 2003. He's a good one!

Illegals -- an opportunity to do right by all

The operative word here is "illegal!" For those of you who do not understand American English that means "law breaker," "criminal," "outlaw," "crook," "dishonorable," "felon," "immoral," "condemnable," "reprehensible," "felonious," "at fault." (Other language words for criminal) Are you beginning to understand? The idea of rewarding these criminals with amnesty and even citizenship is repugnant to me and to all decent, law abiding Americans. That is except for emotional idiots who feel guilty about everything and those selfish individuals who use the misery of others for personal gain or to promote their own agenda.

I have a series of proposals which would turn the current "foreign invasion" of our country into an economic and social advantage. It would provide a legal status for most of those now in our country illegally and the same for those who want to come here. It would not provide amnesty or grant any level of citizenship to illegals. These proposals would address the many gross insults and injustices now imposed on our country by the millions of illegals already here and those trying to get here.

Step 1 - Identification: Require the registration of every immigrant with a digitized photo and fingerprint ID card. Click here to read about a proven system that could be adapted to handle "guest workers," (GWs). A sub-system of the Internal Revenue Department could handle the administration and the taxes that would be collected. Instead of a Social Security number, Gws would receive a GW number with letter codes instead of numbers in the form XXX-###-### where the Xs represent letters and #s represent numerals. This would preclude confusion with the all numeral SS number.

Step 2 - Citizenship: Amend the Constitution and remove the antiquated wording that grants automatic citizenship to anyone born on American soil. Change it to require that the mother be either an American citizen or a legal immigrant in the process of becoming a citizen. Deny granting citizenship in all other cases. Specifically deny citizenship to anyone born to a mother illegally in the country or having Guest Worker status.

Step 3 - Welfare: Specifically deny welfare benefits, healthcare, education and any other social services to anyone who is not registered and does not have a GW card. Not to do so threatens the overburdening and destruction of the entities now providing these services. This is happening in many areas of our country right now and will only get worse.

Step 4 - Paying for it: I propose a multi-tiered method of paying for welfare and other benefits provided for GWs. This would be a pay-as-you-go system designed so that GW s would at least in part, pay for the benefits they receive.

A. Income tax: A flat tax of 25% on all income, deducted from all wages by employers using the same system the IRS now uses. No deductions, no exceptions. A flat 25% tax on those who are self employed using the Current IRS tracking of this type of income. This tax to be kept in a separate account for use in the GW program only and not deposited into the general fund.

B. Tariff: Registration of GWs will include their country of origin. I propose a floating tariff or duty on all goods imported into the US from each country. Such duty will be applied to the country of origin of the goods, not the country from which it is imported. The percentage being determined by the actual number of GWs registered from each country. Special punitive tariffs could be imposed in situations like in Venezuela where a national policy of anti-American activity does financial and other damage to our country. Using Venezuela as an example, I propose we impose a punitive tax of 10% on all imports, including oil, coming from or originating in, Venezuela until and unless financial support for anti-American activities ceases.

C. Registration fees and services payments: I propose a twenty dollar charge for registration to pay for the card. This payment can be deferred until the applicant actually has a job, but is to be deducted out of the very first month’s pay by the employer. I propose a minimum cash payment by every GW of $10.00 for each and any social or health services including emergency room treatment. This will discourage abuse of the system by those with very minor ailments or problems. Payment will go directly to the agency or healthcare facility providing the service.

Step 5 - Enforcement: The bugaboo of all laws and in particular with respect to illegals, enforcement would have to be strict and swift. I propose a system of fines and criminal actions against any employer who hires without a social security or GW number check. The flat tax would remove any incentive to use single SS or GW numbers for multiple individuals. Criminal actions against record falsification, illegal hiring or non-tax payment are already on the books and only need to be enforced. With most of the advantages of illegal hiring gone, employers would be encouraged to edhere to the law and keep records accordingly. Of course there would be abuses. There are many abuses of the IRS laws right now without much enforcement. Plugging loopholes would have to be an ongoing effort.

Step 6 - implementation: Once the new law is in place, it would take a number of months to register GWs and get the control and enforcement systems in place. I see no possibility of avoiding problems during that time of changeover. I suggest a period of six months to register most GWs. It may take longer, but that depends on how swiftly and well our registration system is set up.

A. Employers: The obvious first need is that employers comply with the new law immediately. They would have to provide lists of all undocumented workers and possibly even pre-register each one. Sanctions and even criminal actions against employers would have to be the very necessary first step. The system which would best serve this purpose would reward the employer for compliance and punish for non-compliance. This part of the law would have to be carefully written with room for adjustment once problems arose.

B. Tax collection: As an incentive to register without penalty, no taxes would be collected or deducted until the six-month signup period is over. Wages would be recorded by employers, but deduction of the 25% flat tax would not begin until the end of the six month startup period. Yes, this might create a problem for many GW s as their pay would suddenly be reduced by a fourth, but detailed explanations could help. The way the non-system is now working, there is no tax. Of course, what is going on now is illegal criminal action by both workers and employers. Enforcement of existing laws and associated punishments would be far harsher than this proposed system, taxes and all.

C. Social services and health care: As it is now, private firms and governments at all levels have to pay for services provided gratis to illegals. With small cash payments required for each service provided, there would be an incentive to limit accessing these services except where truly necessary. It would even be possible to set up a system of automatic payments using an account accessed via the GW ID card much like a credit card. Any amount debited to the ID card account would be automatically deducted from the individual’s next pay. There will be more added to this later.

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS!

What is really driving this attack on America:
(with links to websites with pertinent information)

1. The government of Mexico is actively promoting and aiding the movement of their criminals, and the poorest and least educated of their citizens. This is not an opinion. But a demonstrable fact from speeches by government officials, news sources and released documents.

2. Overburdened with one of the highest birthrates in the world, Mexico and many other South and Central American nations are exporting the absolute worst of their surplus population to the United States. This has become well known government policy.

3. Many other nations including China, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and most overpopulated Muslim nations, as well as the whole of Africa are now using Mexico and our porous southern border as a conduit for their poor, their criminals and their terrorists. The northern border is also being used increasingly.

4. There are numerous highly organized and well financed "underground railroads" leading to virtually every state to hide, aid and disperse illegals to every corner of the US. They are also aided in their efforts by the ACLU.

5. Organizations like MEChA and LaRaza actively promote the political takeover by a Latino majority as soon as possible. When this majority takes control they plan to act on the secession of a large portion of the Southwest and the formation of a new nation, "Atzlan" with Spanish as their national language and the motto, "Yanqui get out!" If you doubt this, Click here or even go to their own websites LaRaza and MEChA and read what they are saying. Try to find and read the Spanish language version as it is far different and more obvious than the "doctored" English language version.

6. The recent highly organized protest marches and rallies against immigration reform have been organized by groups financially supported by the Mexican government through "arms length" organizations. Many of these are organizations with world Communist backing, often receiving money from Venezuela’s strongman and virtual dictator, Hugo Chavez. After the initial protests backfired a bit because of the shouting of anti-American slogans and waving of Mexican and other flags, the organizers quickly ordered their "troops" to hide those flags, wave only American flags and shout pro American slogans. TV footage and photos of the protesters before this order went out and after demonstrate this clearly. The disingenuousness of those who organized the protests should be obvious to all but the most prejudiced and ignorant.

7. The enemies of America, whatever their motives, are working feverishly to bring down America. This is because our nation’s success, high living standards, philanthropy, generosity, help to humanity–driven by free and responsible people using free-enterprise capitalism–puts the lie to virtually everything the far left stands for. Unfortunately, many well-meaning, idealistic Americans, motivated by misdirected emotional appeals are providing aid and support to these enemies who would destroy our nation. Illegals - Teddy Roosevelt & others

Amen to this! 99 years later.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith, becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

If you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS:

Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family.

Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.

Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc. Procreate abundantly.

Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive behavior with, "It is a cultural U.S.A.thing. You would not understand, pal."

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper.

Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise.

Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.

Demand a local Mexican driver license. This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico

Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws.

Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers.

Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time or soon be dead. Because it will never happen. It will not happen in Mexico or any other country in the world except right here in the United States, Land of the naive and stupid, idiotic politically correct politicians.

Angst and Humor about Illegals

MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO

David M. Bresnahan April 1, 2006 NewsWithViews.com

Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. All government forms need to be printed in English.

4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.

5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.

7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.

13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Sincerely,

Mexican Standoff

I don’t know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.

I don’t blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don’t care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.

I don’t need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don’t have anything against Mexicans, I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don’t believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get.

What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it’s tantamount to saying, “I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

It’s an “in your face” action and speaking just for me I don’t like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn’t be happening.

Where are you, you bunch of lilly livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again?

And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won’t mean anything anyway. Besides, what good is another law going to do when you won’t enforce the ones on the books now?

And what ever happened to the polls guys? I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain’t paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want something done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday.

This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy. Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can’t happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets?

If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind of country your children and grandchildren will inherit.

But I guess that doesn’t matter as long as you get re-elected.

Shame on you.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
